Enrty 11







In creating our film openeing we had to assign differnt roles to each other in order to complete our opening by our deadline.

It was at this point that we began to discuss what we had believed we all worked best at. Not that this meant that we would not have an input on the other things that needed to be done but this would be our main responsibilty. After doing this, we had come to the agreement that Shamara would work on filming. This meant that she would feature in the opening and help film.



Myself (Aedenya) and Donica had worked on editing the opening which included things such as voicerover and effects. In saying this, I had starred in the film opening and Donica had helped with filming aswell.
Shannon had done the commentary for our film opening and helped with the entires for which were uploaded to the blog.

blog entry 10 evaluation


Mr warner is an example of a un - stereotypical teacher as a teacher would not normally conform to this sort of manor.
This is a point of view shot of sir from Isabelle.
Mr Warners unexpected moment adds more humour which is 
expected of a teen comedy genre. As this was not expected (as in plan), this shot was made more realistic.

The high angle close up shot of Isabelle is a conventional shot that is used frequently in teen comedy films. This shot is used to elaborate on the fact that she is bullied and to show that she is the centre of attention during her embarrassing moment.
This will help the audience to identify the fact that Isabelle is not recognised for her popularity but for being the college nerd.

The low angle close up shot at the window with the two bullies shows in great detail the facial expressions of the characters. It's for the audience to identify that the bullies attention is focused on someone and not the camera.
A shot like this is also used in teen comedies when bullies are known for penalising a victim.

Entry 9

We had shown what we have of our film opening to a group of year 11 pupils who had given us some positive critisim.
Some of the critisim that was given was:
  • Camera angles were good. Especially the point of view shot.
  • The downwards tilt that was used when Isabelle fell on the floor.
  • The young people believed that the genre of the opening was identifiable.

Some of the things that the young people believe could be changed in order to make the film opening more appealing were:

  • Including titles within the film opening.
  • The use of a tripod within the opening could have made the opening more smooth. This would have prevented the shaky effect that we now have.
  • Our opening needs to be cut as it it over the maximum time of 2 minutes by 30 seconds.
  • Contemporary music could be used to show what young people may listen to today.

We will take the critisim that was given to us and improve our opening in the final edit so that we can try and gain the highest marks possible.

Entry 8

Myself (Aedenya) and Shamara had decided that if we was to distribute our short film opening, we would choose Sony Pictures Releasing International as our distributor. This is the same company that is known for producing 'St Trinnians' which is a well known British Teen Comedy film. This relates to our film so this is why we have choosen this distributor.

Donica and I (Shannon) researched many types of film distributors as part of our short film opening, so that they could then be compared. Through our research we found that Goldcress is the most useful distributor to compare and contrast our film with, as it appeals to our film. Simply because this distributor is more established and focuses more on comedy, for example they produced a fantastic film entitled 'Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging' which is really effective to our group filming because of its clear connection through Teen Comedy. Whereas, Paramount sets out to produce other films that are more versatile.

Entry 7

When filming our shots, we did not film in the order that our storyboard was set out. This was due to the fact that when we had wanted to film the boys, they were not playing football that day so we focused on all the shots that included Isabel and available extras.

In doing this, that meant that when it came onto editing, we would have to cut and paste the shots in the order that we had intended on our storyboard.

We intend on using effects such as wipe-outs or dream clouds to create the humour needed for our teen comedy opening.

Entry 2

In order to prepare for our filimg, we had to get permission from the head of 6th form and those that we wanted to use as extra's for our film opening. In doing this, we were successful so filming was not a problem.
Alternatively, we were not to sure about the weather being reliable on the days that we wanted to film the boys playing football outside on the field.
As a group, we had decided, if the weather was not reliable, then we would have to film the boys playing football in the sports hall.
This would insure that we would get our filming done on time.

Entry 6

Just before the half term holiday, we had started to film different shots of our film opening for Isabel.
The shots that were sucessful were the establishing shots of the character Isabel. This consisted with a panning shot starting with the work up of Isabels shoes. The camera then gradually worked it way up to her face. This showed the type of character that Isabel was by her dress sense.
We then focused on the lockers and young people that were around who were observing Isabel. The way in which the camera focuses on the group of girls and the comments passed about Isabel, shows that these girls are popular.

This included, getting extra's form around the 6th form to help create a college environment. We had filmed all the shots from our storyboard apart from the boys playing football. This was because football had been cancelled on that day.
